Hi Gang!

You know, when construction workers build a building, they use all sorts of tools! The same is true when God builds us into Christian kids.

Construction workers use things like a wrench, a hammer, a level, a saw. What tools does God use? Would you believe a wrench, a level, a hammer or a saw?

You don't think so? Well how about this? The first and most important tool God uses is a WRENCH! What does a construction worker use a wrench for? A wrench turns a nut until is set tightly where it belongs.

When we are turned the wrong direction, what does God use to turn us back to the place we ought to be?

The FIRST tool God uses is our parents! That's right, our parents are like God's wrench that turn us the right direction!

In the Bible it says, "The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart." (Deuteronomy 6:4-6)

This is the most important thing we should do, Love God. But sometimes we go a different way. So God gives us parents to TURN us (like a wrench turns a nut) back the right way!

"Teach them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise." (Deuteronomy 6:7) See, parents TEACH us to go the right way!

That makes them God's wrench, turning us to love God! That means we need to obey and honor them, so we can learn what God wants us to know.

The Bible tells us that we should honor our parents, for our own good! "Honor your father and your mother." (Exodus 5:16)

Next time your parents tell you to do something, and you don't want to do it, REMEMBER that they are being God's wrench, showing YOU the way to go!
